Steven Brooks Sims, NCARB, AIA, CHC

Steve began his career at Architechniques, Ltd. in 1993, one year after the company was founded. By 1996 he had been promoted to the Senior Project Manager and was placed in charge of the drafting department. In 2003 he became a licensed architect in Illinois and Missouri. As a Project Manager and Project Architect his main duties included the company’s healthcare sector projects, working with several area hospitals and medical and behavioral medicine clinics to expand and renovate their facilities. In 2003, he was elected by the Board of Directors as the President of the corporation and is now in charge of the direction, corporate vision and marketing of the firm.

Steve’s primary sectors of responsibility are the healthcare and educational sectors, mainly dealing with area hospitals and medical and behavioral health clinics. He has also grown our educational sector by adding local community colleges and a private Christian college to our ever growing client base. He has also begun expanding our client base to serve municipalities in city and county governments.

As a Project Manager and Project Architect Steve’s responsibilities included day-to-day management of the various projects in his charge. These duties would include design, estimating, generating construction documents, bidding services and construction administration. In addition to his architectural duties he also managed the drafting department..

As a technician Steve worked on generating the construction documents for some of the first projects at Architechniques, Ltd. including Lakeview Funeral Home, Logan Professional Park, and Admiral Daycare

This Associate of Applied Science degree from SIU helped Steve obtain a position at Architechniques, Ltd. and begin his career in architecture.

After working in the industry for several years Steve decided to finish his undergraduate degree at SIU.  Earning this desgree allowed him to meet the requirements of the State of Illinois to complete his internship, take his licensing exams and ultimately become a licensed architect.
